Ceramiche Refin announces Bricklane and Baita collections

Posted Date: 4/23/2014

[Las Vegas] At the 2014 edition of Coverings, to be held here from April 29 to May 2, Ceramiche Refin announced it will be presenting its new Bricklane and Baita collections.

According to the company, Bricklane is named after the famous street in London’s East End, historically a working-class, multi-ethnic district that in recent years has become a trendy area where artists, designers and architects have moved their studios and workshops and where the most avant-garde galleries have opened up new exhibition spaces. It is these industrial archaeology sites that have inspired the innovative material surfaces created by Refin, which already appear worn by time, with a distinctive aged effect. Sizes available are 60 x 60 and 30 x 60 rectified and 30 x 60, 45 x 45 and 30 x 30 natural, complete with a 30 x 30 decoration. The five colors available include light grey (light) to darker grey (grey), as well as neutral (beige), mud brown (trend) and earthy brown (umber) shades.

The Baita collection takes its name from the traditional Stube, the rooms with wooden walls and floors, typical of homes in the Alpine areas, the company stated. The new Refin collection is reminiscent of the different types of wood that coexist in these characteristic environments. This inspiration is also evident in the choice of the particular color variants that reproduce the various aging stages of larch wood, which evolves during its life cycle as a result of exposure to weather conditions. The color range contains shades that allude to freshly cut timber (fresh), natural wood and the nuances it takes on when used indoors and protected from the weather (natural), as well as when it is placed outside, both in a burnished version when exposed to direct sunlight (sun) and in a darker version when located in the shade (shade). Baita comes in one size only, 60 x 60.

The new collections will be joined in the Refin stand by Refin Frame series by the DesignTaleStudio, winner of a Silver Prize at the European Design Awards 2013 and selected in Italy for the Compasso d’Oro award, the company stated.
