ConsumerAffairs.com knows what consumers want

Monday, September 26, 2016

More consumers are turning to online reviews to scope out products before they buy. Consumer Affairs website — ConsumerAffairs.com — offers reviews of companies across a multitude of categories including flooring, and offers insight into the key factors driving consumers to certain flooring and purchasing decisions, as well as how customers evaluate a floor’s performance in their own home.

Consumer Affairs is a consumer news and advocacy organization founded in 1998 by veteran Washington, D.C. journalist and public affairs executive James R. Hood. The website boasts 6 million to 8 million monthly users and includes consumer news, recall information and thousands of customer reviews, according to the company.

Its flooring guide incorporates reviews for a number of listed manufacturers and suppliers across multiple flooring categories, including for example, some that sell quality hardwoods. Common themes in hardwood customer reviews mentioned the aesthetics (like handscraped or wire-brushed details), the quality and durability of the floors, and some customers gave their overall evaluation of their buying experience. Others said they chose certain companies based on reputation.

“[Mohawk] has a pretty good reputation so I went with them,” wrote one reviewer this summer. “We got wood flooring and carpet and we had it installed in the bedrooms, office, living and dining rooms. We like the look of our flooring, it's really beautiful and has met our expectations. We would recommend them to anyone.”

Expert reviews and company information accompany each listing. For example, the expert review for supplier Mirage Floors highlights the company’s sustainable development practices and its wide selection of wood species. The expert review for Bella Cera noted its eco-friendly practices and individualistic floor production using old-world processes. The website also reported that the typical customer for Bella Cera are luxury buyers and green shoppers.
