Choosing a rug is hard. There are so many styles (and piles) out there that it can be tricky to find the one that works for your space. To avoid the dreaded rug order-and-return struggle, we've rounded up some inspo and rugs to shop so you can see what the overall effect will be in your bedroom before you hit purchase. Cold hard floors, no more!

1. Light and Airy
White is ideal for a light and airy room, but to keep it from looking too blah, try a patterned rug in varying neutral shades. Even better if you can tie it in to your throw pillow and blanket.

2. Shag
You can't go wrong with a shag rug. It's a classic, and most importantly, cozy, in a bedroom, but try a patterned version to keep it from feeling too retro. (And for the love of all things holy, please skip the mustard and olive shades.)

3. Coastal
A rattan bed frame and seagrass rug add coastal elements to your bedroom. No matter where you actually live, you can feel like you're by the sea.

4. Jewel-Toned
Give a white bedroom a little more character by choosing a patterned, colorful rug. Dark, rich colors will have a jewel-box effect against the white backdrop.

5. Bold
If you've got a lot of color in your bedroom, go all out and make a statement with an equally bold rug. Just choose neutral colors like black & white so it doesn't clash with your other decor. Boom.

6. Soft and Patterned
Soften up a more industrial bedroom with a patterned rug in light colors. It makes the room feel more inviting, while still retaining the cool factor.

7. Boho
Nothing epitomizes bohemian decor like a patterned rug. The more vibrant the colors, the better.

8. Black and White
Balance out pinks and whites with a black and white patterned rug. The room still feels crisp and light, but the darker rug keeps it from bordering on shabby chic.

9. Sky Blue
This soft blue rug makes the room feel fresh. It's perfect if you want to create a beachy aesthetic, or just want to add a subtle, gender-neutral pop of color.

10. Dark Neutral
A brown rug grounds an otherwise more feminine bedroom, with lots of florals, whites, and blues. Choose a patterned style to break up that dark color.
