AkzoNobel’s Chemcraft launches new CV primer

Friday, October 23, 2020

[Hight Point, N.C.] Chemcraft Industrial Wood Coatings has recently released OmniBuild Pro, a new primer surfacer designed to tackle challenging substrate variations, while building a remarkably thick and smooth foundation for topcoating.

According to the company, OmniBuild Pro, a Conversion Varnish Primer, has a high-solids formulation that provides superior build, sag resistance and hide. It's easy to apply, sands quickly and has a fast stack time making it very production friendly, the company added.

“Our goal was to develop the ultimate primer surfacer for even the most challenging substrates like routed MDF - one that, with a single coat, provides the ultimate surface for topcoating,” said Ron Cooper, AkzoNobel segment manager, Chemcraft, North America. “We’re very excited to bring this leading-edge technology to our distributors and end users.”

Field testing for the product was handled by Chemcraft distributor Wurth Louis. “OmniBuild Pro is a state-of-the-art universal primer that can be used with all Chemcraft technologies,” said Jeremy Mitchell, sales director, Wurth Louis. “However, when used as part of the Chemlife 24 system, a much higher dry film thickness can be achieved that results in an extremely smooth and durable surface.”

“OmniBuild Pro is user-friendly, has excellent vertical hang and is fast drying,” said Adam Egbert, coating’s sales specialist, Wurth Louis. “It has a 24 hour pot life and works with all spray systems and flat line machinery.”

“OmniBuild Pro will be a great addition to any shop looking for ways to increase productivity and streamline material costs without sacrificing quality,” said Cooper. “The results are truly stunning, especially when used with Chemlife 24 or Chemlife 24 Plus Topcoat. It's an exciting product that continues the Chemcraft tradition of offering our customers market leading products and services.”
